Learning a single verse, a page, or the whole book ought to have consistent revisions to retain it for a long period. Splitting the chapters into pages makes it manageable to achieve your hifz goals day-to-day. Use mnemonic devices, read aloud, write summaries, and take breaks to consolidate information. 6 Tips To Memorize 1 Page In A Day

Hifz Academy are going to share beneficial tips that will enable you to memorize a page of the Quran in a day.

1. After Every Salah

The standard printing of the Quran has 13-15 lines per page. If you divide 15 lines into 5 daily Salahs, you can easily memorize a page in 24 hours. Let’s say, you have read out and memorized 3 lines after fajr, revise them before Zohar so that you recall them right after Zohar Salah and learn 3 more lines. Repeat this sequence of revision and recollection after Asr, Maghrib, and Isha.

Sit for a long time after Isha to revise all the lines jointly at least 5 times.

2. At Fajr and Asr Time

The next tip is to memorize 8 to 10 lines after Fajr as that time is loaded with Barakah and freshness. Then, revise those lines in your Zohar Salah and anytime before Asr. After Asr prayer, recite those lines to yourself and learn the remaining portion of the page. Revise the whole page in Maghrib and Isha Salah to retain it.

The more efficiently you manage to divide lines between Fajr and Asr, the amazing results you get.

3. Back & Forth Repetition by Looking At The Mushaf

Another helpful way to hifz a page in a day is to start reciting the page by opening the Mushaf. All you have to do is to look at the words carefully and recite the first line 3 times with Tajweed. Then recite the second line 3 times and add the first line with it. Now, recite both lines jointly 3 times.

After this, recite the 3rd line 3 times and then add the previous two lines to it. This is the way your brain will store it because the more you look at the words written and read them out loudly, the image is saved in your memory box to retrieve it easily. Carry on doing this till you are done with the whole page. Finally, close the Mushaf and give it a try by recalling from your memory. You will notice that the whole page is scanned word by word in your mind.

4. Listening To The Recitation

You must have experienced somewhere in your school life that whatever you read/recite in your morning assembly is still fresh in your memory. Right?

Being kids, the azkar and duas we used to recite in the morning, without knowing the meaning, are still saved because we used to listen to them every single day.  The same is the case here, the more you listen to the recitation, the more it will get saved in your memory and you will see that you can automatically recall not only the verses but the tone and style of the reciter also. Choose a Qari whose recitation is very clear and beautifully adorned with Tajweed rules, and listen to the page you intend to learn at least 10 to 15 times, preferably early in the morning so you have time to revise it till evening. You can divide the lines if you find them difficult to learn together.

Let’s say, you have to memorize page number 13th of Surah Al-Baqara, divide the page into 3 parts (5 lines each), and listen to its recitation again and again. Then, recite it along with the Qari to see if you have memorized it. If yes, stop the audio and read it on your own. Play the recitation if you are stuck anywhere.

5. Writing Down The Page While Reciting

This tip is hardly used but has a substantial role to play when you wish to memorize a page in a day. Write down consciously and read it. Avoid all distractions to let the written lines get copied to your brain.

This tip is really workable for those who have strong visual intelligence, those who remember minute details by just having a look at things. While writing, try to keep the first and the last word of every line in mind. It will help you recall the whole line easily.

6. Read out The Translation First

Understanding what you are memorizing is important to associate details when you are revising the verses. So, the last tip is to read out the translation of the lines to know the background and scenario of revelation. If you are memorizing any page of Surah Yusuf, this tip becomes mandatory to apply because this Surah is a story narrated amazingly. Once you know what is in each line, it will become effortless to review.

Be mindful that all the tips mentioned here will work differently for everyone. You might find any of them a little tough or simply not workable. So, try out all of them to see which one played the best role for you.
